Review: Crash Landing on You (2019-2020)
Official Synopsis:
A paragliding mishap drops a South Korean heiress in North Korea - and into the life of an army officer, who decides he will help her hide.
If you're a fan of K-Dramas or romantic comedies then Crash Landing On You is a must watch! The characters are all so well-developed and even the side characters all have their little moments to shine and warm your heart. Captain Ri's camaraderie with his little ducklings, is simply adorable. The way he looks out for his troops and the people he cares about really makes him the knight in shining armor. Like any great story, the antagonists are as despicable as they come and you cannot help but curse them. The main love story though will make you swoon and make you believe in love again. Just be careful when watching this show because this show has mastered the cliffhanger and you will most likely end up binge watching this entire series in one go.
This show also gives you an interesting if not slightly romanticized look into how life might be like living within North Korea. Its all fictionalized but I still found it really fascinating nonetheless. Seeing Seri adjust to the hardships of living in the Hermit Kingdom is an endless source of comedy and heartfelt moments. And when the roles are reversed, its even more hilarious.
Even though the ending is a little bittersweet, it is probably the best ending you can hope for given the difficulties they face as a couple separated by the DMZ. Despite some slightly cheesier parts, I would still highly recommend watching though.
