Review: Mandalorian - Season 1-2 (2019-2020)

Official Synopsis:

A lone gunfighter makes his way through the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic.

Star Wars fans can rejoice. Mandalorian is easily one of the best Star Wars releases since Rogue One. The overall tone for this unique space-themed western is immaculate. Disney Plus has really spared no expense on its new series and I feel like it has really paid off. From the introduction of new iconic characters like Grogu and Pedro Pascal's Mandaloria to the appearances of Jedi legends like Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker, the Mandalorian has not only expanded the Star Wars mythos but has also helped enrich it as well. Even though there are some episodes in the second season that feel noticeably like D&D side quests, even these filler-type episodes are quite interesting because they give us a glimpse into new peoples and locales within the Star Wars universe. The visuals and effects are quite stunning and sometimes I will forget that I am watching a TV show. The story overall is much more interesting that anything else that the Star Wars franchise has presented audiences with lately. With several acclaimed guest directors like Taika Waititi and Robert Rodriguez, coming on to direct various episodes, Mandalorian manages to stay fresh and interesting. With the departure of Grogu during the season 2 finale, it will be interesting to see where the future seasons will take us. Will it take a deeper dive into Mandalorian lore and focus on the possible revival of Mandalore? Or will the Mandalorian's path somehow converge back to the revival of the Jedi? In either case, the Mandalorian is a series we highly recommend and will continue to follow.
