Review: The Grand Tour Presents: A Massive Hunt (2020)

Official Synopsis:

Hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May journey through Madagascar in search of buried treasure.

In this mini-film, the trio are back again! This time searching for buried treasure. As a long time fan since Top Gear, this was a must watch for me. I wasn't a fan of the The Grand Tour's first season because I thought it felt too scripted. Even it got much better with later seasons, we have some of those cringe moments in this mini-film as well between each leg of the journey when they are trying to "decipher" the treasure map to see where the journey should go next but when they get going again it feels like the good ol' days of Top Gear again. In classic Top Gear challenge fashion, each of them has brought their own crazy modified vehicles of choice to complete the trip. The sights for some of the locations they visit are breathtaking and they really take us on a very bumpy ride as they explore lesser traveled roads. Its a fun ride from beginning to end. Though the pirate treasure feels a bit forced, the adventure is everything I hoped it would be. Fueled by witty banter and pranks, this piece of programming really helped to make quarantining during the COVID pandemic much more bearable.

Our Rating:

Swin: 7/10 - If you're a fan, its a must watch.
